The substances in which heat is transferred from one end to another are conductors. Ex- Iron, Copper etc.

The substances used in making cooking vessels handles are insulators. They are used because at the time of cooking the utensil we are holding are very hot because normally they are made of steel or iron which is a very good conductor of heat. So to not to get our hand burnt the handles are made of insulators or have layer of rubber on them.

The substances used to make cooking untensils are made of conductors because if the utensils were made of insulators then heat would never reach the food in the vessel. So heat/cook our food the utensils are made of conductors.

The subtances that Dispite given heat, does not spread from one end to another are insulators. Ex wood, plastic etc.
