Bile does not contain any digestive enzymes yet it is important for digestion due to following reasons :

1) emulsification of fats :

when food enters the small intestine then fat is present in the form of large globules which is difficult for the enzymes to digest , so bile juice acts on these fat globules and converts them into smaller fat globules which are then digested by lipase.

2) providing basic medium for pancreatic enzymes:

the chyme which enter the intestine is acidic in nature . But the pancreatic enzymes require basic medium to act so bile makes the food basic.
