Bill Bryson says that he is easily confused because he creates a lot of problems for himself on a daily basis. For example, he often forgets the way to lavatory or forgets his room number in the hotel. He can forget almost everything i.e., necessary and required.

And he is there on the wrong side of a self locking door. Sometimes he stays at a hotel. He has to go two or three times a day to the hotel desk because he forgets his room number.
