Answer:

x = 2\sqrt{6}

Step-by-step explanation:

We have two points (3 , 4) and (x, 1)

Let A ≡ (3, 4)

B ≡ (x, 1)

Using Formula :-

Distance between two points M ≡ (a, b) and N ≡ (c ,d)

MN = \sqrt{(a -c)^{2} + (b - d)^{2}

So OA = \sqrt{(3-0)^{2} + (4 - 0)^{2}

OA = \sqrt{3^{2}+4^{2}  }

OA = \sqrt{9+16}

     = \sqrt{25}

OA = 5

Similarly OB = \sqrt{(x-0)^{2}+(1-0)^{2}

              OB = \sqrt{x^{2}+1^{2}

              OB = \sqrt{x^{2}+1 }

Beacuse OA and OB are equidistant then -

OA = OB

5 = \sqrt{x^{2}+1 }

Squaring on both sides-

5^{2} = x^{2} + 1

25 = x^{2} + 1

24 = x^{2}

x = \sqrt{24}

x = 2\sqrt{6}
