Subash Chandra Bose, lovably known as Netaji, was born on 23rd January, 1897, in Cuttack, Orissa. He had an immense contibution in India's struggle for freedom. He had a career in the civil serices. Some of his great achievements were: joining the freedom struggle, establishing the Indian National Army. 'Give me blood and I will give you freedom' were the words he lived by. A major setbackin his life goal was the retreat after the defeat of Japan and Germany. His unfortunate demise occured in a plane crash over Taipei, Taiwan (Formosa), on August 18th, 1945
