Like non-biodegradable substances, the biodegradable substances also pollutes the environment in the following ways:
- Biodegradable substances when decompose, they release methane gas, which is harmful for the environment.
- Although these wastes are broken down, they transform into another compound, usually organic carbon, which subsequently converts into carbon dioxide and water, which is again polluting environment.
- They produces foul smell when decomposed.
