  • An Indian Gandhian environmentalist, Chandi Prasad Bhatt is a social activist. He is regarded as one of India's earliest environmentalists of the contemporary era. In Gopeshwar, he established the Dasholi Gram Swarajya Sangh (DGSS), which went on to serve as the mother organisation of the renowned Chipko Movement.
  • Sunita Narain, an Indian environmentalist and political activist who was born in 1961, has been a strong supporter of the Green idea of sustainable development.
