Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman

Sir C.V Raman was an Indian Physicist, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 1930 for his work on the scattering of light ,i.e., deflection of a ray from a straight path (Raman Effect)

He was knighted in 1929 awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954. Raman was also awarded the Lenin Peace Prize in 1957

India celebrate National Science Day on the 28th February every year to commemorate Raman's Discovery.
