'Mother Teresa' was born on 26 August 1910 at Skopje, Macedonia. Her real name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She was the youngest child of Nikollë and Dranafile Bojaxhi. Her father died in 1919 when she was only eight years old.Agnes was fascinated with missionaries from an early age, and by 12 she knew that she would commit herself to a religious vocation. When she was 18, she left home and joined the Sisters of Loreto in Rathfarnham, Ireland.Mother Teresa committed to be a nun in 1931 and chose the name Teresa to honour patron saints of Australia and Spain. In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation dedicated to serve “the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled and the blind.Mother Teresa was honored with many awards throughout her life. In the year 1979, Mother Teresa was honored with the 'Nobel Peace Award'. She later received 'Bharat Ratna' (India's highest civilian award) in 1980. Mother Teresa died on 5 September 1997 at the age of 87 at Calcutta, West Bengal, India. Her death stunned millions of people all over the world. Mother Teresa was born on in an Albanian Family. She was the youngest children in her home. Her father was a trader and mother was religious woman who was deeply committed to charity. After completing her primary education from school she joined a catholic institute in Dublin, capital of Ireland. Here she was given the name as Sister Mary Teresa. After recieving a training of six months in Dublin she went to Darjeeling in India to complete the novitiate period. On she took her first step as nun and was sent to Calcutta by the sisterhood. She taught at St. Mary's High School in Calcutta for fifteen years. The school provided free education to girls hailing from poor families. Teresa became a well versed in Bengali and improved her English. She was appointed as the principal of the St. Mary's High School in 1944. Mother Teresa loved teaching and enjoyed in shaping young minds at St. Mary's High School. She was a Roman Catholic Nun from the Republic of Macedonia who adopted India as her country of service. She dedicated her life in the service of poor and ailing people through the Missionaries of Charities. She had once said, “Love cannot remain by itself – it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service.” She encompassed the whole of humanity in her healing embrace. Her work was recognised in numerous international and national awards and recognitions. On Mother Teresa was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize. After the ceremony, Mother Teresa was canonized by Pope Francis as Saint Teresa.
