Ionizing radiation is radiation with enough energy so that during an interaction with an atom, it can remove tightly bound electrons from the orbit of an atom, causing the atom to become charged or ionized.

Biological effects of radiation typically divided in to categories. ........the second category represents exposure to low doses of radiation over an extend period of time producing chorinic for long term effects.....high doses tend to kill cells while low doses tend to damage them and change them
