Metabolism: All the chemical reactions going in our body is called metabolism. It is of two types :

(a) Anabolism: These are the biochemical reactions of building up of protoplasm. It results in the production of more protoplasm.

(b) Catabolism. It is the process of break down of complex substances into simplel ones.
