Answer:

(c) The water, warmed by the sun, turns into vapor (evaporates), and passes out through thousands of tiny pores (stomata) mostly on the underside of the leaf surface. This is transpiration. It has two main functions: cooling the plant and pumping water and minerals to the leaves for photosynthesis.

(b)Veins have a relatively thin layer of smooth muscle in the wall, and often the veins have a misshapen or collapsed look, whereas arteries maintain a tight cylindrical shape. Veins also have valve flaps to keep the blood from moving backward in the vessel. These valves resemble the semilunar valves of the heart.

Answer:

arteries carry oxygenated blood

arteries have stronger rigid walls than veins

veins carry de oxygenated blood

veins have less strong/collapsible walls

the loss of excess water from the plants through stomata is called transpiration

1) it cools the plant

2) gets rid of excessive water
