SIMILARITIES:
1.BOTH ARE DOUBLE MEMBRANE STRUCTURE
2. BOTH HAVE DNA AND RIBOSOMES IN THEM. BECAUSE OF WHICH THEY ARE EVEN CALLED SEMI AUTOMONOUS THAT IS THEY CAN MAKE THEIR OWN PROTEINS.
3.BOTH ARE FILLED WITH FLUID (MATRIX IN MOTICHONDRIA AND STROMA IN CHLOROPLAST)
4.BOTH ARE LIVING
DIFFERENCES:
1.The major difference between mitochondria and chloroplast is that the latter contains thylakoid membranes and pigment molecules, whereas the mitochondria membranes contain respiratory enzymes not found in chloroplast membranes.
2.Chloroplasts have the ability to use light to convert carbon, derived from carbon dioxide into sugar. Mitochondria on their part break down simple sugars into carbon dioxide and release energy.
3.The process of photosynthesis takes place in chloroplast and the process of respiration takes place in mitochondria.
4.Mitochondria are to be found in both plant and animal cells, whereas chloroplasts are found only in plant cells.
