The object here is placed at a certain height and there is no evidence of its state of rest or motion. So, we will consider it to be in rest.

Then the total energy possessed by the body is the energy possessed by the body on virtue of its position i.e. Potential Energy.

Formula for finding potential energy:

 \large{ \cdot{ \boxed{ \rm{E_p = mgh}}}}

Where m is the mass, g is the gravity and h is the height at which the body is kept.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Given:

  • Mass = 15 kg
  • Gravity = 10 m/s²
  • Height = 6 m

Plugging the values in the formula,

⇛ E = mgh

⇛ E = 15 × 10 × 6 Joules

⇛ E = 900 Joules

\therefore The total energy possessed by the body is 900 Joules. And we are done !!

Explanation:

Given : -

  • mass m = 15 kg

  • Height h = 6 m

  • Gravity g = 10ms²

To Find : -

  • Find the energy possessed

Solution: -

We Have Formula

Potential Energy = m g h

Applying all values :

Potential Energy = 15 × 10 × 6

Potential Energy = 150 × 6

Potential energy = 900 J

Hence the energy possessed is 900 j

More information : -

  • Energy is the capacity to be able to do a work, hence the energy possessed by the object above a certain height be calculated as follows,

  • As we know that the Energy possessed by the object at a certain height without motion, is the potential energy. And potential energy formula is,
