Like every discovery in science it can be used for both good and bad.Biotechnology is helping us in lot of ways in the field of medicine agriculture etc.but the same can be used for making bio weapons which can cause great amount of casualties illegal experiments on human beings can also backfire

ADVANTAGES : 1) High yeild in less time and less expenses .

2) We can avoid the use of pesticides and thereby pollution.

3) Quality of food and foodgrains has been improved .

DISADVANTAGES : 1) Attempts to develop 'super human' through genetic manipulation .

2) No study about long term effects of GM crops on environment and living organisms .

3) Financial loot of poor countries and farmers due to monopoly through patenting of GM crops.

4) Genetically modified pest resistant crops may prove harmful to benefit insects.
