Birbal :-

Birbal is a famous historical character and he was a court jester in the court of Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar. He was one among the nine jewels or 'Nav Ratnas' in the court of Akbar. He was in the inner council of advisors of Akbar's administration. Birbal was mostly entitled to the administrative and military duties but he was very close to Akbar, who loved his wisdom, sense of humor and subtle wit.

It is believed that Birbal died during a military expedition to Afghanistan, heading a large military troupe. It is said that Akbar mourned his death for several months.

Birbal was born as Mahesh Das and served during the reign of Emperor Akbar as a singer and poet. However, with his wit and sense of humor, he also helped the emperor in the administration of the kingdom. He was one among the nine gems Akbar designated as the most important courtiers in his court. Although he was a Hindu and Akbar was a Muslim, the two got along very well.

There are many stories of Akbar and Birbal for children that illustrate how Birbal helped Akbar in times of need and in ruling his kingdom efficiently. Birbal’s death was marked by Akbar as one of his biggest losses during his reign.
