A person reached king akhbar's court and asked the king that he want 1000 gold coins regarding his daughters marriage as he was old and poor. Akbar told the old man to stay in the nearby pond ( infront of the fort ) for a night . and also kept two of his soldiers to observe him to night . The next day morning the king asked the soldiers about the old man. They said that he followed exactly whatever the king told. king akbar asked the old man that being a oldman what is the reason behind staying in cold pond water. The old man said that he imagined the heat on seeing the light from the fort and also his daughter's marriage. Akbar said that he don't want to give the coins as he saw the light such that the oldman get sufficient heat from the light so that he violates the order. Birbal doesn't agree with akbar and wanted to teach a lesson . The next day birbal invited him for a meal i.e.,khichidi . akbar observed that the pot is far away from the burning sticks such that the food is unable to cook or boil. Akbar said "I considered you to be the wisest in the country, but you have proved me wrong " and asked the reason behind that. He conveys the situation using the yesterday's ones.He questions the king how the light gives heat which is far away from the pond. Akbar realizes his mistake and gave the reward of 1000 gold coins to the oldman .
