It is quite true animals have feelings. If one has kept a pet, one would definitely agree to this fact. Animals respond sadly or happily as humans do to sad and happy situations. This fact was well highlighted in the story, The Portrait of A Lady by Khushwant Singh.
After the grandmother breathed her last, she was lifted off the bed and, as is customary, laid on the ground and covered with a red shroud. After a few hours of mourning the family left her alone to make arrangements for her funeral.
