When birds flap their wings, it gives them the thrust in the air. Air passing over their wings give them the lift or upward push. Basically, these movements follow the Bernoulli’s Principle, the principle behind airplanes.
The shape of the bird’s wings and the way it is moved through the air, help the bird to lift and fly forward. Birds which fly, usually have strong wings that are worked by their breast muscles.
