Birsa Munda was born in ulihatu, in Ranchi ,in Jharkhand. He gained lot of popularity among the masses .He advocated the rights of the Mundas as the real proprietors of the soil and sought to abolish the existence of middleman. However, he was captured by the British in 1900. Soon he died in captivity in the Ranchi Jail
