make a horizontal line of 6 cm. bisect it means make arcs upside as well as downside of the line, taking corners - a & b of the line as the point of the compass and where two arcs meet eachother on the upside, draw a line through it -c &d . This is perpendicular bisector of the line.

Answer:

Draw the perpendicular bisector of the line segment AB= 6 cm .

Draw a line segment AB=6 cm.

With A as the centre and more than half of AB as the radius, draw tow arcs on either side of ¯AB.

With B as the centre and with the same radius, draw two arcs which intersect the previous arcs at X and Y.
