Black is a colour and white is also a colour but black and white television is not colour TV... why??

The same theory applies to black and white. The answer: 1. Black is not a color; a black object absorbs all the colors of the visible spectrum and reflects none of them to the eyes

Black is not a colour by the terms of physics we determine that black is actually absence of colour and it doesn't reflect any colour wavelength to our eyes.
And white is also not a proper colour because it is mixture of all colours and isn't present independently in the light spectrum.
That's why the black and white TVs are determined as colourless .
