3) it is spread over north west part of Deccan plateau and is made up of lava flow

4) beside cotton they are also for cultivation of crop

5) they are well known for their capacity to hold moisture

6) it is rich in soil nutrient such as calcium carbonate, magnesium, potash

7) mostly black soil found in Maharashtra

8) that's why Maharashtra known for cotton
