bleaching powder forms a milky solution in water. Explain

sarthakkhandekoyaalk: Bleaching powder is Calcium Hypochloride. (CaOCl2). It reacts with water to form Calcium Hydroxide Ca(OH)2 (slaked lime) and Hypochlorous acid. (HOCl)This releases the active Chlorine which will be the oxidizing agent. Once the oxidising agent oxidises, the resultant Hydrochloric acid reacts with slaked lime to form Calcium Chloride. The oxidising action bleaches organic colors.
