Answer: Valves

A valve is a device, which is used to regulate the flow of fluid by the pipe or the duct, which allow the movement of fluid in one direction only.

The valves closed down when the blood starts to flow in a single direction so that the flow of blood in the veins can occur in one direction only i.e back to the heart.

Most of the veins move the blood against the gravity, blood is prevented from flowing back in the veins by the valves.
