The arteries have higher blood pressure than in veins because the arteries carry pure (oxygenated) blood to the different tissues and organs of the body so it is pumped by the heart with greater speed and pressure so that way pure blood is readily available. The veins carry the impure (deoxygenated) blood in the body so they are carried with less blood pressure by the blood capillaries .
Therefore, valves are present in veins to prevent back flow of blood due to its low pressure.
