Bloom, Bubbly, and Buttercup share a triple sundae. They pay Rs 30 for it. But the ice-cream realizes that he charged more than he should. He sends his associate to return them five rupees. Since it is hard to split 5 rupees, among three friends, the associate keeps two rupees for himself and returns one rupee each to the customers. This means, Bloom, Bubbly and Buttercup each paid nine rupees for the icecream and two rupees as tips for the associate. This totals 29 rupees. How much money is left

Money left with three friends is Rs 3 ( Rs 1 with each )

Money with associates is Rs 2

Solution:

Total Paid = Rs 30

Owner Returned Rs  5

Net Paid = 30 - 5 = Rs 25

Each Person get rs 1 back

Hence paid = Rs 9 each

Total Paid by 3 = 3 * 9 = 27 Rs

Actually net paid = Rs 25

27 - 25 = Rs 2  is the difference what associate had

there is no meaning of adding 27 & 2  = 29  and compare with 30

its actually

27 - 2 = 30 - 5

=> 25 = 25

Money left with three friends is Rs 3 ( Rs 1 with each )

Money left with associates is Rs 2
