A person who blows his own trumpet loses the respect of his colleagues. The professor in this story too did the same. He always tried to put down others and talk about his own accomplishments. The professor had earned a little respect from the fellow soldiers due to his knowledge, but the respect soon turned into resentment as he kept on droning about his knowledge and did not give anyone else a chance. He crossed his limit when he happened to tell the Colonel about a hand grenade. He landed up working in the kitchen because of his boastful nature.
