Q. Blue coloured copper copper sulphate are heated what change would you observe during heating and why?

Answer :-

It losses its water of crystallization and converts in to white powder.

Explanation:-

Water of crystallization :- The certain number of water molecules attached to the crystal structure of a compounds is known as water of crystallization.

Ex :- CuSO_4 . 5H_2O, CaSO_4.2H_2O

Copper sulphate contain 5 molecules of water of crystallization attached to its due to water of crystallization it's colour is blue and the solution is hydrous when it is heated it losses its water of crystallization and changes in to anhydrous copper sulphate which is white powder.

 CuSO_4 . 5 H_2O(blue) + \delta →CuSO_4 (white) + 5H2O

where \delta is heat supplied to copper sulphate solution.
