When zinc granules are kept in copper sulphate solution, the blue colour of copper sulphate disappears and the solution becomes colourless. Zinc is more reactive than copper and hence displaces copper from copper sulphate solution and forms zinc sulphate.

CuSO4 + Zn → ZnSO4 + Cu

of displacement reaction* takes between copper sulphate and zinc granulations as zinc is a more reactive metal it will displace copper from its aqueous solution and convert it into zinc sulphate and change its color to colourless substance the displaced copper could be seen on the zinc granules
