ANSWER:- blue litmus paper remained blue because the solution was basic or neutral in nature not acidic .

Main nature can be told when a drop is put on red litmus paper it will show that the solution is basic , acidic or neutral.

(i) It can be identified on the basis of the following observations : Bases change the colour of litmus paper to blue. As the colour of blue litmus paper is not affected, the solution must be basic.
