Given,

Downstream speed = 18 km/hr

Speed in still water = 15.5 km/hr

To find,

The distance covered in upstream in 4 hours.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Downstream speed = Speed of water flow + Speed of boat = 18 km/hr

Speed of water flow = Downstream speed - Speed of boat in still water = 18-15.5 = 2.5 km/hr

Speed in upstream = Boat speed - water flow speed = 15.5-2.5 = 13 km/hr

Distance travelled in 4 hours in upstream = (13×4) = 52 km

Hence, the travelled distance is 52 km.
