Answer:

A 10 kg body is moving with a velocity of 6 m/s. If a force of 20 N is applied to the body, the velocity  after 4 seconds is 14m/s and distance traveled in that 4 sec is 40m

Explanation:

  • We have two equations of motions to find the final velocity and distance traveled by an accelerated body

                        v=u+at     and     s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^{2}

        where,

        u-initial velocity

        v-final velocity

        a-acceleration

        t-time

        s-distance

  • from Newton's second law the force(F) on a body having acceleration (a) and mass (m) is   F=ma

From the question, we have

the initial velocity of the body u=6m/s

mass of the body m=10kg

the force applied on the body F=20N

so the acceleration of the body a=F/m=20/10=2m/s^{2}

the final velocity of the body after t=4s

v=6+2*4=14m/s

distance traveled is s=6*4+\frac{2*16}{2} =40m
