an atom has two parts electron and neutron.
when atom is in original state it is called ground state when it is moved to a higher level it is called excited state.

He proposed a model in which he told that electrons revolve around the nucleus in a fixed path called shells.shells have a fixed size and energy.Its limitation was that it failed to explain the Zeeman effect when the spectral line is split into several components in the presence of a magnetic field.
