Given :

The boiling point of n-hexane , Tb = 68.9 degree Celsius = 341.9 Kelvin

To find :

The critical temperature ( Tc ) of n-hexane .

Solution :

According to Goldberg's rule for liquid , at absolute temperature ,

boiling point of a liquid =  two-third of the critical temperature of the liquid

then ,

             Tb =  ( 2 / 3 ) * Tc

     341.9 K = ( 2 / 3 ) * Tc

=>           Tc = ( 3 / 2 ) * 341.9 K

=>           Tc = 512.85 K = 239.85 degree Celsius

The critical temperature (Tc) of n-hexane is 512.85 K or 239.85 degree Celsius .
