Boiling point of NH3 and HFare abnormally high as compared to those of hydrides of other elements in their respective group

NH3 are low b.p. than HF due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding in HF while NH3 are not formed any hydrogen bonds soHF show high boiling point than NH3....

Boiling point mainly depends on extent of bonding between the molecules.


Since electronegativity of these compounds is very high so they can form intermolecular hydrogen bonding hence a large amount of energy is reauired to break the bonds so their boiling point is exceptionally high.
