bond energy of f-f bond is less than that of cl-cl bond.why?

Fluorine has a very small size as compared to chlorine and bromine . So In F-F molecule there is great inter-electronic repulsions due to which bond enthalpy is less than that of Cl-Cl and Br-Br .
