It is synonymous with bone tissueformation. There are two processes resulting in theformation of normal, healthy bonetissue: Intramembranousossification is the direct laying down of bone into the primitive connective tissue (mesenchyme), while endochondral ossificationinvolves cartilage as a precursor.
