→ Moment of Inertia I of a rod of mass M about an axis passing through centre of mass and perpendicular to its length L is given by,

l = M×(L2 / 12 ) = 2g-cm2 ..................(1)

→ Moment of Inertia I1 of a rod of mass M about an axis passing through one end of its length L and perpendicular to its length is given by,

l1 = M × (L2 / 12 ) + M×(L2 / 4 )

= M × (L2 / 3 ) .................(2)

from eqns.(1) and (2), we get

I1 = 8 g-cm2
