The New Delhi World Book Fair, hosted at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, is India's oldest book fair after the Kolkata Book Fair. The first New Delhi World Book Fair was held from March 18 to April 4, 1972 in roughly 6790 m2 area with 200 participants. It was inaugurated byV. V. Giri, then President of India.

Books are uniquely portable magic. Book fair are appetizer for further reading. Book fairs play a huge role in encouraging reading habit among people of all age groups. Working on the theme, ‘Books are our best friends’, The Modern school, ECNR organized a book fair from October 26 to October 28, 2017.The fair was inaugurated by the school Principal Ms. Abha Sadana with the headmistress Ms. Rimpy Verma.
Wide range of books of all literary genres were displayed in the book fair. Children and the staff members enjoyed the fair and selected the books they wished to read. The opportunity to browse books of so many varieties and in a large number at a time was a wonderful experience for the children and parents who had come to attend the PTM. The aim was to encourage and inculcate the love for reading among students.
