Explanation:

“Kabuliwala” by Tagore is a tale of heart-rending friendship between a 5-year-old Bengali girl Minnie and an Afghan moneylender, Abdur Rahman or Rahamat. The story beautifully ties a bond of mutual affection and the unconventional relationship between the two.

The voice of the story is lent by the father of Minnie. Rahamat, who is a hawker of dry fruits and shawls from Kabul, frequents the Bengali locales where Minnie and her family reside. He was a strapping, turban-clad man and fascinated Minnie.

Kabuliwala is a realistic story by Rabindranath Tagore about an afghan native who came to Bengal in hopes of earning a living . His name is Rahmat and he sells dry fruits amd shawl along with some other commodities in Bengal. He roams around the city on foot and sells his merchandise.

Rehmat struck friendship with the narrator's five year old daughter. Narrator encouraged them even though his wife was against it. She was convinced that Rehmat was trying to make friends with her daughter in order to kidnap her and sell her.But Rehmat was an honest man.One day there occured a fight between Rehmat and some natives of Bengal who owed him money. In the heat of the moment he stabbed one of them and had to spend long years in jail.

After many years he was released and went to author's house and he came ro know that the little daughter has grown and is getting married. He showed a photo of his own daughter who was around five when he left for Bengal. Realisation dawned on him as he thought about his daughter. She too have grown up and maybe got married. He missed lots of yeara from her life.Author gave hime money to travel to his homeland ad meet his family after all these years.

This story goes through the pain most migrant workers suffer as they have to part with their family amd homeland in order ro make a living and support their family. They are always treated as an outsider in another country and even face many ordeals to establish themselves.
