“Hard work is equal to prayer.”– Shri Lal Bahadur Shastriji"

January 11 marks the remembrance day of Lal Bahadur Shastriji, an Indian politician who served as the country's second Prime Minister after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in May 1964.

Whenever we discuss the simplest personalities in the history of India, our former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri tops the list. Shastrijipromoted both the White Revolution - a nationwide campaign to increase the production of milk, as well as the Green Revolution - which saw the adoption of modern method and technology in agriculture to increase the production. India won the 1965 war with Pakistan under his leadership and during this war Shastriji coined his immortal slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan”which means “Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer”.He passed away in Tashkent, Soviet Unionon January 11, 1966.

Today, the young Shalomities paid tribute to this great son of the soil by remembering all his work. Children recited poems, delivered speeches and displayed his famous slogans through placards. Class teachers shared information about Shastriji’s life through a PPT and motivated children to take inspiration from his life.
