Given :

Number of triangular faces in icosahedron = X

Number of corners in icosahedron = Y

To find :

The value of X - Y .

Solution :

The number of triangular faces in the icosahedron is 20 .

Thus , X = 20

The number of corners in icosahedron is 12 .

Thus , Y = 12

X - Y = 20 - 12

        = 8

The value of ( X - Y ) is 8 where X is the number of triangular faces and Y is the number of corners of icosahedron .
