both angiosperms and gymnosperms pear seeds then why they are classified separately?(NCERT BIOLOGY::CLASS 11)​

ANSWER :

Although both angiosperms and gymnosperms bear seeds, they are not placed under one group but are placed or classified separately.

It is because of the difference in the morphology of their seed and on the basis of fruit.

The reasons are described below :

1. Actually, the gymnosperms bear seeds which are naked. It means that the seeds of the gymnosperms are not covered by fruit wall or pericarp.Whereas the angiosperms bear seeds which are covered with fruit wall.

2. Also, the gymnosperms do not bear any fruits but the angiosperms produces both fruits and flowers.

These are the main two reasons which explains why gymnosperms and angiosperms are classified separately.
