Both bryophytes and pteridophytes exhibit haplo-diplontic life cycle.

But for bryophytes main stage plant is gametophyte ie (n) which is green , independent , photosynthetic and long lived and sporophyte stage is non green , dependent on gametophyte , short lived ie why bryophytes are haploid .

For pteridophytes their main stage plant is sporophyte ie(2n) is dominant and they are diploid
