The fundamental difference between soap and detergent is that soap os made from natural substanc, while detergenys are made from synthetic products.

Soaps are made from fat and alkali by specification method and detergents are made from carbonic compound which do not contain alkali.

CLEANING ACTION OF SOAP

the dirt present on cloth is organic in nature and soluble in water. Therefore it cannot be removed by only washing with water .When soap is dissolved in water its hydrophobic ends and attaches themselves to the dirt and remove from the cloth. Then the molecules of soap arrange themselves in micelle formation and trap the dirt at the centre of the cluster.
These micelle remain in the water. Hence the dust particles are rinsed by the water.

PROBLEMS ARISED DUE TO USE OF SOAP AND DETERGENTS

Soaps are biodegradable while detergents are non biodegradable .Hence detergents accumulate the environment and cause problems
