Box A and Box B contained some books in the ratio 5 : 2. There were 54 more books in Box A than in Box B. If 6 books were transferred from Box A to Box B, what would be the new ratio of the number of books in Box A to that in Box B?

No of books in box A = 5x and no of books in box B =2x according to question 5x-2x=54 => 3x= 54 => x= 18 so no of books in boxA = 5*18= 90 and no of books in box B = 2*18 =36 now if 6 books transferred from A to B than ratio become (90-6)/36+6= 84/42 = 2/1 = 2:1
