Let us consider a circle with a diameter of 12cm.

The points where the diameter and a circle meet are A and C.

Now, if we choose any different points on a circle and draw a triangle, it will always be a right triangle.

→ The reason comes from the central angle theorem.

→ We drew the diameter, so the central angle is 180°.

→ The angle on the arc is \sf{\dfrac{180\textdegree}{2} =90\textdegree}.

The maximum length of the height is the radius.

→ 6 cm, but the height is 8 cm.

This shows the triangle doesn't exist. So, the correct answer is 'the triangle doesn't exist.'

Given : A right angle triangle and altitude

To Find :  What's wrong

Solution:

CD = x

=> AD = 12 - x

BC² = CD² + BD²

BC² = x² + 8²

AB² = AD² + BD²

AB² = (12 - x)²  + 8²

BC²  +  AB² = AC²

=> x² + 8² +  (12 - x)²  + 8² = 12²

=> x² + 64 + 12² + x²  - 24x + 64 = 12²

=> 2x² - 24x  + 128 = 0

=> x² - 12x + 64 = 0

D = 12² - 4(64) = -112 < 0

Hence no real solution for x

so Altitude of 8 cm is not possible

So not possible
