=> aquatic organisms depend upon the oxygen dissolved in water usually this amount is low and keeps on changing so rate of breathing is faster in aquatic organisms on the other hand, Terrestrial organisms used the atmospheric oxygen which is abundantly present in the air and its amount does not fluctuate so, rate of breathing is moderate in Terrestrial organisms.

♤The amount of oxygen dissolved in water is fairly low as compared to the amount of oxygen present in air.

♤ the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster than that seen in terrestrial organisms.

♤ Fishes take in water through there mouth and force it past the gills where the dissolved oxygen is taken up by the blood.
