A merchant borrowed rs. 2000 from two money lenders. For one loan, he paid the interest at 8% per annum and for the other 6% per annum. The total interest paid for one year was rs. 135. How much did he borrow at each rate?

let the two sums be x and (2000_x)

he pays 8%for x and 6%for ( 2000_x)

x×1×8÷100+(2000_x)×1×6÷100=135

8x÷100+12000_6x÷100=135

8x+12000_6x=135×100

2x=13500_12000

2x=1500

x=1500÷2

x=750

so,he borrowed 750 from one lender and (2000_750)=1250from another lender
